What is a Parent Cooperative Preschool?

A Parent Cooperative is a nonprofit preschool that is dependent on the community for support and run by parents who volunteer their time and energy in order to ensure the educational success of our children. With parents at the helm, our first priority is to create an environment where our children will thrive while preparing for their future and enjoying a safe and nurturing environment. We are governed by a board of directors comprised of parents, teachers, and the director. As a member of our school you have the opportunity to be involved at every level of your child’s foundational education!

When you enroll at MCP, you become a member of the Not-for-Profit Corporation that governs the school. This is comprised of parents serving staggered 1 year terms. The board oversees all operations of the school, including committees, fundraising, and day to day operations and personnel. The board works closely with the staff, ensuring a positive preschool experience. Parents may opt to serve on the board of directors instead of serving on a committee for a discount in tuition. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend our monthly board meetings and let your voice be heard! They are generally held the first Tuesday of the month at 7:30pm at the preschool. Dates for the meetings will be posted in our Google calendar and linked on this website.
